Tips For How To Wear Bold Natural Lipstick
Remember - rocking a bold lip is all about confidence! The first step? Simply wear it. Bold colours can feel intimidating at first, but the more you see yourself in them, the more comfortable they’ll feel. If you are new to colour, start by just wear it around the house to get used to seeing yourself in the colour.
Prep with a Lip Mask or Balm: Get your lips colour-ready with a hydrating lip mask or balm (we love Ilia Beauty Lip Wrap Reviving Balm or RMS Beauty Lipnights Overnight Mask) while you do the rest of your makeup. This ensures a smooth finish!
Define with a Lip Pencil: Begin by outlining your lips with a natural lip pencil to create the shape and define edges - or opt for one of the jumbo pencil formulas featured that serve as pencil and lipstick in one.
Use a Brush for Application: Still building up confidence with application? Use a lip brush for a polished finish and more control (try the Ere Perez Eco Vegan Lip & Conceal Brush). A brush can also help blend the shade into your lips for a smoother, more even finish.
For a Stained Effect: If you’re not ready for full impact colour, simply press and pat the lipstick into your lips with your finger and blot the colour for a more subtle, stained effect. You still get a bold colour but with a little less intensity!
Keep it Simple: If your focus is usually on eyes or lots of blush you may want to pair back these areas start with the lip and add to the other areas - it might work just with a sheer wash of colour on the eyes and a coat of mascara, with a little colour on the cheeks.
